PCR test after 1 month of treatment

Categories:

I was diagnosed with CML on 8/14/2018. Started on sprycel 100 mgs. My doctor ordered a PCR test after only one month. My PCR went from 58% to 17%. Was hoping for atleast 10%. Anyone else get tested at 1 month and what were your results if you dont mind sharing?

You are so fortunate, hope you keep going that way. I was dx December 2017.  58%.  3 months 36% and resistant to Imatinib. Put on Sprycel. 6months 25%.  Next results next week.  You are a Hare, I am a turtle.  I read everyone’s worries about .003 vs .007 and become so depressed and envious. Have to keep telling myself the trend is down and pray it continues.  My Onc, at Mayo, says it might take 1 to 2 years.  Biology is biology.  Hope you continue to be a Hare.  Best wishes. Gitel

Thanks Gitel.

I wish you the best and hope that PCR drops for you even if its a slow pace.

I was 22% IS after 25 days and MMR in less than 90.  Your first test is very good - too early to say if you are a tortoise or a hare, but the trend so far is definitely encouraging. You are going to do just fine.  The waiting is the worst part.

I started four months ago and I got 6% after two months, I think you are in great shape. But even sprycel 50mg is still causing fatigue, I wonder if 20mg could work.

50mg, I have started on 100mg, but because of the immunosuppression my doctor authorized me with 50mg -- and I keep taking 50 to this date. I have been keeping up the exercises, but still not reaching back as much as I would like. Waking up really sucks to be honest.

Give yourself and your body some time. You only started therapy 4 months ago and looks like your response is good, so you can at least comfort yourself with the knowledge that you have responsive disease. I know it is hard to be patient but you will finally find a way to deal with your fatigue and other side effects... a further dose reduction may do that, but your first goal is to get your BCR-ABL % low down and stable. It may be best to wait a little longer- at least for your 6 month PCR result?
