pcr result-.0017 with 56% bcr-abl positive.

hello everyone,im new and this is first post.i was diagnosed when i was 28 years old and was taking imatinib 400 mg.my recent pcr result is .0017 with 56% positive cml presence.is this possible.but my blood test reports are normal.after 1 month i again took pcr and result is 20% positive cml.but blood test reports are normal.my question -is it possible to give two erroneous report.or i just became imatinib resistant.please shed some light regarding this.

Welcome to the CML support group.  It's hard to say if your CML is expanding or if your test results might be inaccurate.  Have your tests always been performed by the same laboratory since your diagnosis?  Are the 56% and 20% positive CML results from the Fluorescence in situ Hybridization (FISH) report?  Do you normally have FISH and PCR tests done at all of your checkups?

Do you have numbers reported like this...

Copies of BCR-ABL per 1000 copies of ABL: 0.33

...this correlated to roughly .04% PCR at least on my test results


 

Thank you kirk for your reply.i think i just became imatinib resistant.now shifted to nilotinib.
