Patient information

Thanks to modern medicine, CML has become a chronic, manageable illness, rather than a life-threatening disease. But ensuring ongoing wellbeing requires some knowledge. Our Living section explains some things experience has taught us about how to cope and live a full and positive life.

Educate yourself

The first and most important piece of advice we can give about living with CML is to make sure you educate yourself about the disease and learn everything you can about your own condition. The best place to start is our About CML section where we explain everything you need to know about the technical and medical aspects of CML.

Once you understand something of how CML works and how best to live with it then visit our Living section to discover more about living life to the full with CML. We'll keep adding more to this section based on what we hear from you.

Just diagnosed?

If you've just been diagnosed and you're in a real panic, read our Just Diagnosed page to get the immediate facts and help you need to begin to understand and learn about what's just happened to you.

About diagnosis

You can discover your CML diagnosis in all manner of ways. Here are some common experiences and feelings which many of our members report. We find it helps to hear about other people's experiences and to realise that you are not alone, even though it may feel like it, since CML is such a rare condition.

Side effects of TKI therapies

Some people living with CML experience side effects which can seriously impact their wellbeing. If your GP or cancer specialist is unable to offer you much helpful advice about this important aspect of adhering to a treatment schedule, consider researching your side effects yourself.
