Normal spleen - exercise

Hi,

Once your spleen returns to normal size (which mine has) is it ok to  return to exercise? At dx I was told to avoid but that’s because it was massive.

And are there any known forms of exercise to avoid i.e weight training, running etc. I don’t want to do anything to make CML worse or progress? And I’d like to do some of it in facts helps.

Hi Alex,

I managed to play a game of rugby the week before diagnosis (I was absolutely gassed a few minutes into the game though!) with a huge spleen. I was lucky I didn't do any damage to it! 

I was told it was OK to go back to exercising once my spleen had settled back to a usual size, but I must admit that was the last game of rugby I played. It's been a treadmill and weights for me since then. There's no particular exercise that will make your CML progress - and of course any exercise you do is good for your health.

Blimey you were lucky not have had it knocked hey! I too went to the gym and did some pretty heavy lifts 2 days before diagnosis! Lucky I didn’t rupture it!

Ok that’s cool I just wanted to make sure that whatever I do doesn’t make the situation any worse. Just want to feel as healthy as possible and release some endorphins lol. Might help too with some joint pain. (At least I am hoping)
