Fervently hoping this does not say what I think it does.

I don't think CML is an directly inheritable disease. But with all due respect, I am not considering any offsprings anyway after bearing this sickness. Epigenetics could also constitute to risk factors... But it's just my take.

My father died of multiple myeloma over 50 years ago, and we were all told at the time that this was not heritable, but since being diagnosed with cml 9 years ago, I often wonder whether there may possibly be some heritable susceptibility, which may show itself in different diseases. I know this is not a scientific way of putting it - and I am no scientist - but what do other people think?
It is much too late for me to have to make decisions about having a family, as I have two children and five grandchildren. All I can do for them is make them aware of the possibility, and encourage them to get tested if they feel something isn't quite right.

Right, Poppert and Josiah, and that's what all the credible CML sources say, but this article made me nervous for my two grown sons. Maybe they should have regular blood tests just in case. But I wasn't able to read the whole article because I don't subscribe to that journal, so don't know the whole story. Will ask oncologist at next visit. Thanks!
