Eureka moment about hair loss

I was diagnosed (confirmed) CML Aug 3 2018.   About 3 months later and two TKI drugs later my hair started falling out.  Sprycel which that is a side effect, I tossed that out the window since I did not even take it a full 2 weeks before rejecting the drug.  Sever reaction raised my liver ALT to almost 900 and my AST to almost 700.  MRI and ultra sound luckily showed no organ damage.  Maybe this cause a delayed reaction for hair loss.  I was eased into bosutinib at 100mg for two weeks, 200mg for 2 weeks then at 300mg two weeks after that.  I was tested about a month in and my PCR was 1.52%.  Since my response was good they kept me at 300mg.  I was trying to figure out why the hair loss???  It is falling out evenly not patches.  Hair loss is not a side effect of bosutinib.  I thought ok maybe the stress of my cancer, a move from where I lived for 35 years, retirement, and the end of a 8 year relationship could make one's hair fall out right?

I am hoping I may have found the issue and I hope this is what is happening.  I was prescribed Lorazepam also called Ativan for anxiety but did not take it immediately.  I try to cope without anything that may affect memory or make me feel a bit odd. After moving in with my father I started taking it at night to help me get at least 4 straight hours of sleep.  I looked up on a web site called RX List and alopecia is a side effect.  I am going to stop taking the Lorazepam and see if the hair loss does stop.  More investigation said this hair loss almost always stops once the drug is discontinued.  Sharing this information because I do read where other folks have posted about their hair loss and how upsetting it is.  I have never had to clean hair from the drain after a shower till recently and it coincides when I started taking the drug regularly.  If anyone does take Lorazepam/Ativan and suffers hair loss you may want to check with your doctor to see if this is causing the loss of hair.

I hope this helps others

That is really interesting - I hope you have found the culprit. Please let us know how things turn out.
