Achieved MMR after 21 months
Congrats Justine!!! Certainly encouraging to the rest of us. I'm 28 months now. My platelets dropped so I had to go off the gleevic, and I had major surgery last Sept and was off gleevic for a month and my numbers rose. I'm not too far behind. Guess I'm a "turtle" too Happy new year to you. Thanking you Ray
Hi Justine ,congrats on your success very pleased for you .Could I just ask have your numbers come down slowly or have you had any blips were they have gone up slightly and then come down again and that's why it has taken so long .Its just that my numbers have gone up slightly on my last 2 tests and I am worried that I will have to come off Imatinib .I am 1 year in .Thanks ,Denise.
Congratulations Justine! I'm so glad you got there in the end and can sympathise (it took me 24 months on 100mg dasatinib).
Just an extra bit of hope: A year on from then and I have maintained MMR at 0.031%. So even us turtles can have a sustained and good response, despite what the guidelines say.
This is the ideal new year's present for you I'm sure! I'm so pleased and I wish you every success for 2019.

Denise my numbers went down slowly and then hovered around 1% for a while. It did seem to go up once or twice but we have had to switch labs a few times, and doc said it could be lab variations. The important thing seems to be the overall trend over time. So we just need to try our best to be positive and patient. Knowing the statistics, we can take comfort knowing that almost all if us will have a normal length mostly healthy life. Try not to worry! Thinking of you and hoping you find peace with it.
Thank you, and everyone, for posting that being a turtle is just another pattern of living with CML. It was such a relief to read these posts. One forgets that being in a minority is OK. I have reached 5% after one year of slow but steady drops on Sprycel 80 mg. Hopefully this will continue to drop in the coming year. Happy New Year to All. Gitel
Cograts Justin, i'm 1.016@18 months.dose increse from 400 to 600 mg imatinib
