circumin and sprycel

well hello everyone, my first time posting here.  i've read a few posts about circumin and sprycel, but i'm not remembering if anyone on sprycel 100mg is taking circumin and it's not causing any troubles.  i spoke to my specialty pharmacy and they said if i take it and start to 'feel weird' i should stop taking it!  i'm sure it will be fine but wondering if any of you have had any adverse effects with circumin and 100mg sprycel.  i remember hearing that it would help with joint and bone pain and the like, and am eager to try it.  any thoughts, input is appreciated!  hope all are having a good day today.

Hi,

I did take curcumin with 100mg of dasatinib. It didn’t cause me to feel “weird” at all, but I think it did give some moderate relief with some joint pain I have. I have since reduced my dasatinib dose, and to be honest have been forgetting to take the curcumin ... I must start again, the joint pain is not gone.

David.

As I have posted at an earlier time, I have begun taking Curcumin for about a week or so and it has almost completely resolved the arthritis I have in my thumb joint. I asked my oncologist about the benefits of it for CML and wow, I received a call from one of the oncology pharmacists who encouraged me not to take it. She said that the curcumin inhibits the way the Gleevec is absorbed and so I may not be getting the full effect of the Gleevec. She also says that it causes issues with red blood cells, can cause black and blue bruises.  So, I know that most MD's are not really in favor of supplements but now I am a bit hesitant in continuing the curcumin. However, she said that it would be safe to cook with it and /or put it on food, or mix some in water. Any thoughts?

Your oncology pharmacists is wrong. You should ask her for scientific research, articles, links, videos that lead her to tell you such nonsense.

Curcumin ENHANCES gleevec, not the other way around:

I have taken Curcumin with gleevec.

Thanks for the links! One common theme in the info  is that Curcumin works well in drug resistant CML. My numbers are good the Gleevec seems to be responsible for that, although there is still evidence of the Philadelphia chromosome. So I’m confused as to if I should take Curcumin at all and if so how much?

Thanks!!
