ECG - tasigna - dropped heart rate

Categories:

Hi there

I had my ECG test today.
Vent rate : 62 BPM
PR interval : 136 ms
QT : 402 ms
QTc : 408 ms

My heart rate dropped from 89 to 62 bpm and QT increased from 348 ms to 402 ms.

I have been on tasigna since a month.

I am worried, Kindly suggest.

Hi,

tyrosinkinase inhibitors sometimes prolong QTc. Prolongation to 408 ms is harmless if you are otherwise ok, without any symptoms and could be a side effect of Tasigna. Usually normal values are up to 420 ms. Also heart rate 62 is ok. I do not know how old are you and what is your physical condition, eventual comorbidities..., but I think that your normal resting heart rate is lower than 89... You could be stressed a little or something at the first time. Have you ever had ECG before ?

Do not worry, if you do not feel dizziness, palpitations etc.

My QT and QTc both went up about the same as yours when I first started on 600 mg/day Tasigna in Oct 2016 - QTc went from 420 - 445 and is now 426 and I am not worried.  This is not an unexpected result on Tasigna.  You are still well within the safe zone.  QTc is the more important number to track.  If it gets above 450, then your doc should reduce your dosage per the drug protocols.  You should also be getting ECG's at least every 3 months to track this and see if it levels off in the safe zone, which it likely will.
